Welcome Aboard Matey’s

Interested in taking a cruise aboard one of Disney’s luxious ships? Well, whether you choose the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder your money will be well spent, as long as you plan ahead and spend wisely before you go.

All of my life, my dream was to see the ocean and its beautlful mix of blues and greens. Finally, on September 15, 2007, it came true. Not only was I going to see the ocean for the first time, but I would actually live on the Atlantic for eight full days.

The views were breathtaking and the food was out of this world...and I tried it all, believe me. Our stateroom had a huge porthole and the sunsets were unbelievable. Thinking back to these eight days was an experience I will never forget and will definately go again.

Port Canaveral

The wait at Port Canaveral was very exciting. We finally saw the massive ship and were just moments away from starting our vacation. Below are images of both the port and the floor model of the Disney Magic. Everyone seemed to stare in awe at the details of the model including myself. The theatre, the pools and everything in between was waiting for us.

Upon entering the ship, they announced our name as if we were royalty or celebrities. It was somewhat embaressing hearing our name, yet walking into the main lobby and seeing the grand staircases and elevators that seemed to go up forever...wow. I can't wait to do it again.

View the images and see what's in store for you if you do plan on going on a Disney cruise.

Characters on the Disney Magic

During your stay on the Disney Magic/Wonder, it won't be uncommon to see a few characters here and there. However, seeing good ole' Captain Jack Sparrow will be a bit more difficult to see. We were lucky enough to snap a quick photo, as you can see to your left, before he swung out of sight.

Actually, you will have opportunties to take pictures with the characters during your cruise. Check your Navigator (a daily schedule of the days events and such) to see what day and hour the photo shoot will be. There is usually a pretty long line, so you may want to show up early for these shoots.

There is however a charge for each of the pictures taken. A twenty dollar fee for the professionally taken photo, that's why I chose to take the photo myself and after a few minutes in Photoshop I was able to get the same quality as the professional.

Towel Creatures

After a long day of fun on the ship you can always expect your Stateroom Host(ess) to not only make certain that everything is clean and orderly, but also that you have a new towel creature before returning to your cabin for bed. To the right are six of the creatures that we managed to get a shot of. The other ones somehow snuck away.

If you ask your Stateroom Host(ess), I am certain they will be more than happy to show you how they went about making their elusive and wacky creatures.

Interesting Facts

The Flying Dutchman, the actual ship used in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, now calls Castaway Cay home. The Dutchamn weighs in at an impressive 420 tons and is 175 feet long. Next to the Disney Magic however it is but a tiny ship.
